Abstract
What is considered the main food stuff for Egyptian people. Some problems encounter wheat marketing, consequently marketing efficiency. Bad handling operations are technological problems affecting economics aspects. The paper is mainly relied on primary data (questionnaire) from sharkia governorate (80 farmers). Marketing efficiency has been estimated at different channels by different methods Variables affecting marketing efficiency are investigated through multiple regressions. Family and animal consumption of wheat is estimated to 17% (13.5% for family and 3.5% for animal). However a significant part of government bread is devoted to animals. Wheat disposable to the market is about 83%. Net return and return for invested pound are calculated in different marketing channels. Efficiency measures equations are estimated according to homogeneity of the commodity or, according to value added, however the measure that took into consideration both costs of production and marketing cost and value of the produce seems more logical. The cost measure ranged between 62.6%-66.6% according to the marketing channel. Marketing efficiency as a dependant variable is affected significantly and has correct sign for cost of production, marketing costs and price per unit. The more important recommendation to overcome marketing problems is availing stores to receive farmers produce all the season and not at a limited period. The bank should establish collecting centers near the village (wheat farms). Providing farmers with inputs is a must to overcome black market through Principal Bank of Agricultural Development and Credit (PBDAC).
