Abstract
This research aimed mainly to study performance of the agricultural extensionists in the participatory irrigation extension in kafrelsheikh governorate , by identifying the level of the performance of their roles in the participatory extension in the field of rationalization of irrigation water use and to identify the correlation relationship & influential between the characteristics of the respondents agricultural extensionists and between the degree of this performance.
Data were collected by using a personal interview questionnaire from random sample amounted to 180 of agricultural extensionists represents 50% of the populations research distributed in three administrative districts Kafrelsheikh governorate chosen randomly also as follows: 70 in Desouk, , 75 in Sidy Salem, and 35 in Riyad district. The data were analyzed using percentages, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, simple& multiple correlation coefficients, partial regression coefficient, model of multi-tree upward step - wise and the "T" and "F" tests.
The most important research results are as follows:
1 - 61.1% of the agricultural extensionists' respondents were low and
medium Performance of their roles in the participatory extension in
the field of rationalization of irrigation water use.
2 – There was a significant and effective correlation relationship between independent variables studied for the Agricultural extensionists respondents, and between the degree of the performance of their roles in the participatory extension in the field of rationalization of irrigation water use as a dependent variable at the potential level of 0.01, where the independent variables collectively explained 69.5% of the variance in the dependent.
3 – The more independent variables effectively in the dependent variable at the potential level of 0.01 were: degree of achievement motivation, degree of benefit from the training, degree of practices of extension activities, and degree of exposure to mass media communication, where these Variables explain 68.2% of the variance in the dependent variable.
Based on these results, it is can be recommended to organize training courses for agricultural extensions in Kafr elsheikh governorate dealing with learning them how to implement the approach of the participatory extension as one of the new approaches of extension the field of rationalization of irrigation water use, which clear low level of their performance, and attention with variables which have proven their impact on the degree of their roles in the participatory extension in the field of rationalization of irrigation water use, for their success and increase their extensional communication effectiveness with the target farmers.
