EVALUATION OF SOME INTRODUCED FLAX VARIETIES COMPARING WITH GIZA 4 CULTIVAR UNDER THREE N FERTILIZATION_ LEVEL IN SANDY SOIL
Field Crops Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center, Giza, Egypt
Abstract
Two field trails were conducted to evaluate yield components, yield and some quality of five introduced varieties comparing with local cuttivar Giza 4 under three nitrogen fertilizer levels in newly reclaimed sandy soil of Ismailia Experimental Res. Station, Ismailia Governorate. The results indicated significant varietal difference in yield components, flax yield and its quality. The fiber type introduced verities out yielded Giza 4 cv. in stem length, straw, fiber yields per plant as well as per fed., biological yield/fed., fiber % and fiber length, while the oil type introduced variety Gentian surpassed Giza 4 cv. and other tested varieties ((fiber type) in seed yield, its components and oil % in addition to stem thiduiess (mm). The results revealed that N levels gave high significant positive effect on most of flax yield and its components up to the highest level (60 Kg Wed.] The genetic material responded differently to the nitrogen rate added. There were positive and high significant as..,ociabon among straw yield, seed yield and their components.
