Abstract
This study aims to identify some general caractaristics of farmers performing fish agriculture in rice fields, there adoption level of fish aquaculture recommendations in rice fields recommendations, to determine some factors affecting their adoption level, to determine their knowledge sources of the recommendations of fish aquaculture in rice fields, to identify the problems facing the farmers in this area, and to identify there suggestions to solve problems and to develop fish aquaculture in rice fields. Questionaire by personal interview were used to collect data from random sample consists of 125 farmers from Meet Ali and Elkhaleeg vellages, Mansoura district, Dakahleya governorate in January, 2003. To analyze data ratio, Chi square with Yates correction and contingency coeficient were used. The main results of this study indicate that 56% of farmers were classified in low and mediam adoption level. And there is a significant relation ship at 0.01 level between the farmers adoption level and each of the following factors: cultivated area of rice and the attitude towards fish aquaculture in rice fields. Results indicate significant relation ship at 0.05 level between the adoption level and each of the following factors: educational status, number of educational sons, number of knowledge sources. The results, also, indicated that the important proplems which faced the farmers who rear fish in rice fields are: Lack of fingerlings number per feddan, Delay of the fingerlings lack delivery after rice cultivation time, and the irrigation water shortage.
