INFESTATION POTENTIAL OF CALLOSOBRUCHUS CHINENSISANDC. MACUATUSON CERTAIN BROADBEAN SEED VARIETIES

Abstract
Sixteen seed varieties of broadbean crop were screened for their relative susceptibility or resistance against infestation by the two storage bruchids, Calbsobruchus chinensisand C maculatusin a non-choke condition. Many. biological parameters were studied as fecundity, eggs hatching (%), mean developmental period (MOP days), adult emergence (%) and the values of growth index or susceptibility index (SI). The resultant weight loss was also calculated on the dry weight back All tested parameters were found in a vulnerable level but the seed varieties were more susceptible to infestation by C chinensisthan C maallatus in respect to the values of the susceptibility index (SI) and weight loss.
