Abstract
Egg production rate was studied for four local strains of chicken, namely, Mandarah, Golden Montazah, Silver Montaza and Matrouh, to study the effect of temperature, day light and relative humidity on egg production rate. The observation obtained was that egg production rate was significantly affected by the degree of temperature where the egg production rate decreased by the increase of temperature, and the highest rate of production was obtained when the temperature ranged from 15.0 to 19.9 °C and from 20.0 to 24.9°C On the other hand, rate of production was higher when the relative humidity ranged from 65 to 85 % than when it ranged from 31.0 to 64.9 0/0 .The results showed that egg production rate decreased by the decrease of day light from 14.0-14.6 hour/day to 10.1-11.0 hour/day. The differences were significant for all strains except for Matrouh strain.
