Abstract
This research aimed to conduct a case study about the (AECs) of Kafre El- Dewar, Exploring the role of the volunteer training program of Agriculture College, Alexandria University, in improving their perfor-mance. Cultural Lag theory, hypotheses evaluation, systems conception, empathic listening and content and style analysis were used to go deep‌er in this research. Data were collected by a combination of methods such as individual and group interviews, participant observation, docu‌ments, observations and group discussions. The most Important results were: There are weakness points in the inputs and activities of the (AECs) that can lead to similar weakness in the outputs. Most of the staff has no extension academic background. They need training in the area of extension methods, using audio-visual aids and agricultural tech‌nical knowledge. There are administrative barriers such as conllecting and duplicating instructions resulted from being controlled by more than one administration, consequently, staff inability to move to research sta‌tions and to farmers. Besides, there is no fuel for the motorcycles or money allowance for transportation. There is a need for reliable support if the (AECs) are to have the desired impact. The volunteer training program has lessons for agricultural exten‌sion by universities, it has brought the people and the university togeth‌er for rural development. The professors offered precious solutions for the trainees' agricultural problems. Respondents suggested several use‌ful suggestions for enhancing development of the (AECs). This research demonstrates a good model of integration among three systems: Extension, Training and Research, which was achieved by Faculty of Agriculture, Agricultural Extension Centers and Agricultural Ex-tension & Rural Development Research institute.
