Abstract

This Study aims at identifying the level of agricultural moderniza‌tion and discovering the factors that are reiated to agricultural moderni‌zation and the factors that explain the variance in agricultural moderniza‌tion. To realize these objectives, data were collected from random sample of 200 farmers from two villages in Belkas district , Dakhlua gov‌ernorate . Percentages, simple correlation, regression and step-wise multiple regression techniques were used for data analysis. The results of the study showed that: 1. The majority of farmers (53%) have a moderate level of farmer mod-ernization . 2. There were 5 independent variables which explained together about 27% of the total variance in farmers modernization. they are atti‌tudes toward education, mass media exposure, aspiration level, household possession, and change-agent contact. 3. A great majority of farms ( 85 %) have a low level of modernization . 4. There were 3 independent variables which explained together about 16% of the total variance in farm modernization. They are cattle own-ership, cosmopolitans and mass media exposure. 5. The majority of farmers (64%) have a low level of agricultural mod-ernization in general.
