Abstract
Span of supervision is considerd one of the important variables in organization and organizational behavior. It has its effects on the effi-ciency and effectivness of the extension organization and supervising of extension personnel.Few study in Egypt were conducted on this critical topic. So this study amied to determine the releationship between the existing span of direct supervision in agricultural, extension and some variables denoted to the supervisors abilities such as: Qualification, previ-ous servic in agric, work. Opinion about benfit from supervision training, periods of training on agric. technologies, total scores of job knowledge. and total scores of job implemention. The research amied also to determine the contribution of all inde-pendent variables in explaning the variance of supervision span as the in-dependent. The last objective was to investigate the principle factors which constitute the span of supervision. Asuit and Sohag were governorates selected as the research area to interview a random sample of 150 respondent. An interview schedule was constructed to convey scales of the studied variables. Person corrle-tion Coefficent, Multiple corrletion & regression, and factor analysis were the statistical tools used to analyze the date. The main results of the study were: there is a signification corrle-tion Cooffient between the span of supervision and all the studied vari-ables except two variables nemely training on supervision and previous service in extension work, which were unique variables as they explained about 23% of span of supervision variance. The research extracted two principle factors forming the span of extension supervision they were Labled 'orientation to previous of expe-rience in agric. extension. profession', and efficiency of cognative and performance abilities.
