Abstract
The potato crop in Egypt is considered an important source of national agricultural income and is one of the key export crops. Potatoes are grown in three seasons: summer, Nile, and winter. The summer season for potatoes in Egypt holds significant importance as it is the primary source for providing seed potatoes required for planting in the Nile and winter seasons. The research problem lies in the variation in the productivity of different varieties within the same governorate. Therefore, the aim of the research is to examine the significance of differences in the average productivity of the main varieties within each governorate, and to expand the cultivation of varieties based on their production efficiency in each governorate.
By conducting an analysis of variance between the average productivity of the main varieties and the key governorates that cultivate these varieties during the period (2018-2022), significant differences were found between the average productivity of the mentioned varieties and between the governorates. This necessitated studying the differences in the average productivity of these varieties within each governorate to determine the significance of those differences and identify the highest-yielding varieties in those regions. The results showed significant differences in the average productivity of these varieties in some governorates. To assess the significance of the differences in the average productivity of the varieties in the governorates where statistical significance was found, Duncan’s method was applied to determine the significance of the differences in the average productivity of the varieties in those governorates.
