Abstract

Three field experiments were carried out to evaluate the efficacy of some synthetic pyrethroids against the pink bollworm, P. gossypiella and spiny bollworm, Einsulana infesting cotton plants. The tested py‌rethroids were cypermethrin, cis-cyfluthhrin, s.fenvalerate, fenpropathrin and Landa cyhalothrin. The evaluation depended on pyrethroids effec‌tiveness in declining the number of bollworms larvae, and the cotton yield in the treated area as compared with unreated area. All treatments of pyrethroids during the three experimental sea‌sons gave a high degree of control against the cotton bollworms. The pyrethriod treatments have increased the yield of cotton sig‌nificantly over the control. S-.fenvalerate treatment caused the highest rate of increase over check in all the experimental seasons.
