Abstract
effect of insect growth inhibitors (triflumuron and chlorfluazuron), insecticides (methomyl, cyanophos, profenofos and methamidophos) and their combinations (Katapron and tamaron combi) on some bi-ological aspects of Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) was investigated. Data indicated that larval and pupal durations became longer, while the adult life span was shortened than the check. The effect varied according to the tested compounds. The pupal weight increased in case of insecticides treatment, but decreased in case of treatments with the insect growth inhibitors or their combinations with insecticides. The fecundity of the produced adults was highly reduced in all treatmets, but with variable values according to the tested chemicals. Egg hatchability was highly reduced in case of treatment with katapron. The reduced pattern of fecundity and egg hatchability exhibited by the different treatments were reflected in increased percentages of sterility. The insecticide/IGI combinations were the most effective in producing sterility compared with the other cpmpounds.
