Abstract

The effec of chlorfluazuron (OKI) on metamorphosis and metabolites of the desert locust Schistocerca gregaria Forskal was studied. Feeding one day - old fifth instar mymphs for one day on treated leaves induced appreciable failure in ecdiysis to the adult stage compared with 6 day- old fifth instar nymphs. the morphogenetic effect of IKI depended upon the age of treated nymphs and concentration used. IKI increased heamolymph and fat body protein as well as carbohydrate levels on day 8 after application leading to high conversion of carbohydrates to lipids. A high level of cholestrol was abtained on day 8 after application.
