Abstract

Preference and consumption of foodstuff (cereals, legumes and oil seeds ) presented to the house mouse, Mus muscu/us L., were studied under laboratory conditions. Consumption of wheat and sorghum among cereals; sunflower seeds among oil seeds; bran +5% moist and cowpea among legumes were highly preferred in a multy food choice tests. In a double food choice, mice consumed wheat more than sorghum, sunflower seeds and bran +5% molas. The daily consumption of offered foodstuff reached normal level in the sixth day, then slightly fluctuated around this level up and down. The palatability of the fresh baits was higher than the old baits infested in stores.
