Abstract
Egypt has recently witnessed various developments in the total Egyptian agricultural production, but Egypt still suffers from a significant shortage in the production of most food commodities, including legumes, as a result of the continuous and steady increase in population preparation, the relative instability of the food supply and the increase in dependence in providing most Food commodities by importing them from abroad to meet the needs of the growing population. The new millennium, starting from the year 2000 until the study period, witnessed discrepancies and a clear decline in the area and production of beans, which led to a decrease in the self-sufficiency rates of it to about 17.5% in 2020 as a result of the farmers’ reluctance to plant it due to its low productivity on the one hand, and disease on the other hand, besides Low yield per acre obtained when compared to competing crops in the same cycle. The research aimed to identify the current situation of the faba bean crop in Egypt during the period from (2006-2020)
